The database is from pre-existing cartography at scale 1:250,000 (&#8220;Il Mondo JOG 1501&#8221; Map series 250\/G). The information content is divided into 10 thematic layers: Transport Network, Hydrography, Administrative and Natural Borders, Settlements, Vegetation, Geomorphological Elements, Industries, Services, Elevation Elements and Data Quality. Each thematic layer contains a dataset, homogeneous by theme, describing geographic details with corresponding attributes. The format is VPF<i>(Vector Product Format<\/i>) implemented according to the DIGEST<i>(Digital Geographic Exchange<\/i> Standard). Coordinates are geographic (&#8220;<i>noprojection<\/i>&#8220;) in sexadecimal degrees. The horizontal <i>datum<\/i> is <i>WGS84 (World Geodetic System<\/i> 84).
